Alpaca Fur Facts:
- Comparable fineness to cashmere, measures about 20 to 22 microns.
- Comparable smoothness to silk

Alpaca Fur Care Instructions:
Alpaca fur is one of the easiest furs to maintain and keep clean! The furs natural oils repel dust and dirt. A quick vacuum with your vacuum accessory nozzle and brush with a hair brush to maintain. A beautiful and luxurious low maintenance fur.

Brushing:
Use a babies tight bristled tangle brush or a balled end plastic bristle hair brush to brush your alpaca fur. Works perfect to fluff fur.
DO NOT USE A WIRE BRISTLED PET BRUSH, NEVER USE! Light brushing of the fur with a hair brush will fluff the fur sufficiently.
Storage:
Use linen for storage. The linen wicks away moisture during storage while allowing the fur to breath.
Should you wish to store your alpaca fur avoid direct sunlight and store it in a cool airy place. Storing your alpaca rug in plastic bags for any length of time is not advisable. You want your fur to be able to breathe and using plastic bags prevents this. In addition, condensation may occur in warm conditions if plastic is used.
 

Cleaning:
Alpaca fur is not machine washable!
Your alpaca fur will need to be taken to a professional furrier to be cleaned. For spills or spot cleaning, first cover lightly the spill with talcum powder or baby powder. Allow to soak up spill and then vacuum up powder with the accessory nozzle of your vacuum. Never run vacuum head over fur like you would carpet. Use vacuum nozzle to vacuum and clean. Then use a damp rag to wipe and blot spill. Try not to get leather hide wet, only wipe fur. Repeat process for desired results. If you are unsure how to handle a spill or accident call us or get to the dry cleaners as soon as possible.
Refreshing & Maintenance:
Day to Day Cleaning:
Use your vacuum accessory nozzle to vacuum fur. Brush to fluff fur anytime.
Annual Cleaning:
Sprinkle talcum powder, baby powder(just about any powder will do). Brush powder into fur. Take outside and lightly shake or hang evenly over close line or deck railing & smack lightly with broom like you would any rug. Leave outside for a period of time to air out. Pay attention to your weather forcast, beware of incoming rain or weather storms. Bring inside, vacuum with your vacuum accessory nozzle and do a final brush to fluff the fur.
